    Having a cut shot & a draw shot is basically golf 101 for anyone trying to be ok at this game. You need to be able to play shots into different wind’s & different pins.

      Draws & fades are like golf 101. Way easier than just trying to hit the impossible straight ball all the time. It’s a lot easy to have a draw & a fade shot.

    What? The club opens after impact because theres a heavy heel strike with the ground, but the toe isn't digging into the dirt as much, then the toe grabs the dirt later which opens the face...

    • @GolfCoachDrNoel
      @GolfCoachDrNoel 3 дні тому

      That’s what I initially thought but looking at other body shapes I’m not so sure. There looks like other torques going on. Also, the ground strike appears flush to me and the face doesn’t get immediately deflected which it would be if that were the case. It opens more gradually and a few frames after ground strike.

    • @GolfCoachDrNoel
      @GolfCoachDrNoel 3 дні тому

      I still think he counters the outward torque from the heavy body pivot with a counter twist of the arms. Of course, I’m open to being wrong as always.

    Maybe it wasn't clear but the wind was hard from the right so the girl hit a fade to hold it into the wind and that's why it went straight and landed softly. If she hit a draw it would have curved a lot and bounced off the back.

    This just confirms what I've been realizing for the average amateur golfer. Learning how to get that pro-like swing and trying to figure out which golf coach to hook up with (especially online) is the 1st problem with finding the correct path for yourself to reaching that goal. It really does suck. Even when you have coaches who believe in the same methods, finding a coach who can clearly identify your problems and directing you to correct them can be a very tough task. One coach will tell you one thing and the other coach will say another. It gets worse 10 fold, if you don't use a coach and try to self teach yourself by watching YT video.

    • @GolfCoachDrNoel
      @GolfCoachDrNoel 4 дні тому

      It does seem like a minefield doesn't it. If you brings you any reassurance, I spend 95% of my time coaching people to do very simple fundamental things that are universal, regardless of coaching philosophy. I would be wary of a coach who has a clearly defined method that he/she applies to everyone.

      Hi James. Sorry to hear of your deteriorating back. I am not a biomechanic but I would say that every golf swing is going to need spine rotation, although, as I understand it, the lumbar spine does not rotate more than 1 degree at each vertebrae and is more tasked with flexion/extension (bending forward).As long as you release the club well with your hands you shouldn't be overly loaded in this area.

    Spinning the right arm down automatically, gets the body mechanical parts and body posture to work amazingly solid. Spinning the right arm down or hit down on the ball or turn the face down or delay the club face whatever i can go on and on with the feels you dont want to hang on to. Pete Cowen the MasterMind of the body movement call it "spinning the right arm down" WHY, yeah, WHY? becauuussseeee so you can catch that feeling faster and get the body to react to it but your body will automatically react to it if you are spinning your right arm down CORRECTLY. (Says Pete Cowen) Haha Spinning the right arm down again CORRECTLY automatically straighten your lead leg and rotate your hips better and so on. Because your body reacts to it naturally. Wow mind blowing. Lol HIT DOWN SO YOU CAN GO UP make sure your shoulder are doing what they suppose to (mechanical stuff huh?) SPIN YOUR RIGHT ARM DOWN FASTER AND YOUR BODY SHOULD "BE ABLE" (again Correctly) TO MOVE FASTER And remember Pete Cowen said dont hit the ball. The ball is in the way of your swing. You should be able to close your eyes and hit 2 fades and 1 draw and 0 straight ball flight everytime haha

      Ok, then I’m confused. Can ‘hold the pressure on’ and release co-exist?

    • @GolfCoachDrNoel
      @GolfCoachDrNoel 19 днів тому

      As for ‘setting the shoulders’ presumably that’s about where the arms are in relation to the shoulders? This all new golf swing terminology for me. Loading the shoulders in other sports is about where the shoulders sit on the frame; up- down, forward- back. The optimal depending on the direction of force.

    i've suffered from the chipping yips for 20 years and had lessons from 1 week with Pelz to everything in between including switching to left handed (i play right but am naturally left handed so thought that must be it :) Out of desire to join an annual tour with a group of friends, i tried to get back to it a year ago. I ran into Charles Kallassy who had worked with many greats at my local course practice area. He saw me struggling and not only had the patience and dedication but the insight to see where my technique and pain points failed me -all gratis out of true dedication to the sport. My journey started again with a renewed interest in the game and got me to the point where i could practice and have faith in the technique. Unfortunately the pain continued on the course. I found your video after digging up old books, videos and on and on. If ever you have seen a video where a person hears sound for the first time, I felt like that person - after 20 years someone who recognized what it was and what it was not, someone who understood the yips and the challenge that a yipper felt. Technique is one thing as you say, but not enough for the afflicted. Fast forward to the drills and thought processes - what a revelation. Like an addiction, I will always likely be affected in some way but now, i feel like i have recognition, understanding and tools in my toolbox which are yielding positive results. Thank you, thank you thank you for all your information and best of luck with the continued research. To the rest of you out there, listen to what is being said - it will restore your confidence and love of the game we all enjoy.

      There’s always a massive selection/success bias when evaluating any golf coach. Most probably don’t help a lot more than they do and there is a bias on the successful players they coach. It’s ultimately about each coach trying to give different feels for the swing.

      @@GolfCoachDrNoel Nothing new here really. Having struggled with the principles of the short game for 40 years, I've tried to reduce my approach to the most simple, repeatable thoughts and actions as possible. Of course, Describing a "feeling" is difficult. So here are some thoughts: (Understanding the differences of CHIP mechanics and ball positioning is upon the golfer) My idea is to setup to your intended target line so that you can "Throw the hands" (and the clubhead) along your intended target line. Using gravity, the "Throw" will establish the natural path and plane of the club. (Dr. Kwan Golf). In these regards, the measure of the "Throw" should be commensurate with the distance and strike needed for the shot. Need a Tiny shot? Envision a tiny throw. I think in terms of the clock face principle. Starting from the 6 o'clock (ball and clubhead down), a "7" is a tiny swing. A chip can encompass up to an 8 or 9 as needed, with anything more than that no longer being a chip. - The Setup to the shot is as NATURAL as possible. Avoiding any form of tension, twisting, or torque in the shoulders, down through the arms into the hands. An improper setup will cause you to twist and contort the shoulders, arms and hands. This will breakdown the swing before you start. - "Hold" the club as gently as possible! Do Not Grasp or squeeze. Grasping or squeezing the handle will create tension and begin the aforementioned breakdown of the swing. At this point, the club is merely laying in the hands. It is simply being supported in the fingers and has not been twisted or manipulated off the intended target line. - Lastly, find and use a personal "Trigger Motion" to set the swing in motion. This will start "The Flow" (as you named it). The smaller the needed swing, the smaller and more delicate the trigger. It is during this final trigger moment that the hands will finally grasp the handle "just enough" to start the clubhead on its tiny little journey and then lead it back to the ball. We do not HIT the ball. We swing the clubhead and lead it back to the ball. Given these basic principles, the clubhead (and gravity) will establish its proper path and the natural CHIP swing will perform all the work. Anecdotally, these 3 simple thoughts are quite applicable all the way up and down the golf bag from driver to putter. Of course, the force and magnitude of the intended "Throw" will be dictated by the given circumstance and needed shot. Absolutely NONE of these principles are New, nor are they mine. They have been around since the beginning of the game itself and have been merely forgotten and often overlooked. SIMPLER is always BETTER. Cheers.

    Thank you. As a player struggling with the yips, this is very helpful. I’ve been guilty of strangling the grip rather than gripping it lightly.

      I feel your pain. I’ve worked with the Yips for over 20 years. This drill can be gold if you put the time in. To your point about grip pressure, over controlling the handle is a killer. Good luck

    The Cowen swing is next level up from Foley. It incorporates everything in the Foley swing, as it must. Foley is a primer on mechanics, Cowen is art.

      Thanks Robert. Give it a try and let me know how you get on. The piece about keeping your attention in the finish is massive 👍

      Thanks 🙏 I get your point about the grass. This drill is especially important from difficult lies where the mind gets pulled towards strike
